ok, i currently live in Buffalo, NY, but i want to move to California, and specifically San Diego. I was wondering if anyone can tell me some approx. rent prices, places to avoid, places to try, basically any useful info that i can use since i've narrowed my search down to either SD or Orlando, FL. If anyone could help me out, with any info at all it'd be really appreciated, thanks in advance everyone :)

there is a real nice cheap suburb of san diego called tijuana that i hear has the best weather (clean weather) and cleanest streets, i may be wrong but i highly recommend it.

It's too damn expensive over here dude, but I'm assuming you either don't care or can afford it since you really want to come here. Or maybe you didn't know how bad it is over here as far as rent goes.

i understand that rent is absurdly high, but i also was interested in moving to DC, but i can't find a single bedroom apt in a "semi" nice (no gang shootings in the past week kinda thing) neighborhood for less than a grand a month, is it as bad there? i dont really care though, your right, i can't really afford it, but i can't stand the east coast winters anymore, and have lived in NY for too long

if u want cheap rent, rent an apartment @ temucula. Chula vista is a good place.
check this local news station out in san diego, maybe it could be assistant to u:

places to avoid:
1. La jolla
2. Poway
3. Del Mar
4. Mira Mesa

anything near UCSD is going to be pretty expensive (2-bedroom apts are ~$1400)
the further you go, the less expensive it gets
but you should think about safety too
this is how my friend gauges whether a neighborhood is safe:
if he sees a white woman jogging in the evening, then that area is pretty safe
there are tons of joggers in la jolla and del mar....that's why it's so freaking expensive

i think rent will be more reasonable around mission valley, linda vista, la mesa
chula vista is right next to mexico...kind of far from everything

here's a mini map to help you become familiar with the area

i've pretty much stayed coastal. the temp here is mild all year round (la jolla area.....and moving to del mar at the end of this month)
it gets very hot inland though

why would u stay away from la jolla? it is the best part of SD, d00d.

if u want cheap, goto north county. its far, but cheap.

<< I was wondering if anyone can tell me some approx. rent prices >>

1000 square foot house in Coronado rents for $1700 a month.

You want cheap rent go to Imperial Beach, or cheaper yet San Ysidro.
