If any of you have iPods that need fixing please PM me

I'm going to be starting up a decent ipod repair business (bought ifixipodsfast.com) and I need to get some business going.

I fix any iPod except for the shuffle.

Costs for labor are usually $20 (that includes shipping) and parts are nearly at cost.

So anything from LCD, hard drive, motherboard, headphone, clickwheel & casing problems can be fixed.

I'm a reputable member who has worked on at least 40 or more ipods and I'd like to help you out with your ipod.

I've already fixed a few members ipods here and would like to add yours to the list.

Thanks again...

Here's my ebay feedback so that you know I'm serious (lots of ipod related business going on @ ebay!)

I fixed brtspears2 ipod just recently. I've got about 4 more lined up to fix and hopefully should be receiving them soon...

How'd I get screwed on ebay, buying broken ipods trying to fix them (they are only supposed to have one thing wrong with them but then when I got them they magically had damn near everything I could imagine wrong. Couldn't resell them for what I had wanted)...

Hopefully you gave them negative feedback. Could you pots their name so the rest of us can avoid buying from them?

You can't give anyone negative feedback on ebay because they only give it back. I'm not tarnishing my score.

Just don't buy anything from booksnauctions, they sell broken ipod parts for expensive prices (as-is of course)...

Plus just a lot of different sellers.

between doing this and other crap I plan on it... when I introduce and get my business running I'll probably charge closer to $40 labor, I'm just doing AnandTech members a favor I guess.

I sometimes make money off of parts but rarely, usually if it's only that I have them on hand, and right now my inventory is low.

lol i just bought a new video ipod. i'll ring id i have problems down the road i guess. Apple does have a kickass warranty policy imo though...

I will vouch for paulson. Yes, I know what that means. If you don't trust him, trust me. You can check my heat under evadman.

Well thanks Evadman, I really appreciate it. I vouch for myself as well, I've always been a responsible guy who takes care of business.

I've got a 20GB iPod and if it every starts doing anything funky I'll send it your way. If you don't mind me asking, how'd you get good at repairing iPods and determining what is wrong with them?

I started out by changing the plastic window on my girlfriend's brother's ipod mini. After that I started working on multiple ipod mini's. I then went ahead and changed out the battery on my 3rd gen ipod 20GB.

After that I started buying video ipods, nano ipods, 4th gen ipods, basically any ipod I could get my hands on to repair and resell. I've got used to all the different quirks that ipods have and know how to change out all the delicate parts.

this is definitely cool and all, esp. since i've seen the OP around for a long time and while i wish him the best on your business, isn't it inappropriate to post something like this on ATOT?

im just thinking of what other ppl may do...

Eh, I've been around the block here for a while, and since this is a "tech" site and many people probably have ipods, I'm sure it's alright.

Plus, as Viper GTS just asked me how the hell I planned on making money, the truth is I wont make much. However I like tinkering with this crap and if it helps someone get an ipod working again, well great.

I'm more about helping people. $20 labor (that includes shipping) + at cost parts = not much money to be made.

hmm, my friend has an ipod mini that he somehow ruined the drive. it won't take songs, it won't play, and the diagnostic for the drive fails. he's getting a nano instead of trying to repair it and he told me i could have it. (i have one too just like him and could use the battery later on.) you have hdd? or do you buy them on ebay? i did think of trying to replace the drive and selling it or something...

Yeah I just get the microdrives off of ebay... I try to get them for as cheap as possible, but you can definitely get one for $50 shipped if you look hard enough and or have some patience.

You can use either seagate or hitachi drives microdrives.

Who are you talking about? I never was on theinquirer.... ever.

I will definately remember this and refer people to you!

BTW, just curious, do regular microdrives work with the pins, or are they the ribbon type connections?

microdrives have the female pin connectors on them. The ZIF connectors (ribbon) are the 5th gen iPod video hard drive connectors.
