even if google tries to keep them out, they could use one of the many market 'fixes' that's been added to the many, many roms out there. xda devs, modaco. market fixes are a must have.

Thanks for link.... Perhaps apps will need to be sideloaded on the tablet... if that even possible.

Are there other methods to distribute apps to android users without using the market place?

Google can't stop them from sideloading apps... The OS is open sourced and has sideloading by default. HTC made a modification that removed this feature, but since it's just a feature of Vanilla Android Google has no ability to ban it from devices.

slideme is out there too. It has some great apps, the slideme app itself just sucks donkey genitalia.
