Wow, Apple fanbois threatened by $150 tablet, it's magical.
If you bothered to read my other posts or the stickied thread at the top of the forum, you'd realize I'm not an Apple fanboy and that you really need to lighten up.
How many Apple fanboys do you know that just installed Android on a WinMo HD2 today?
Hell, I want to buy one of the things to play with, I'd like to be able to use the app store though...

That doesnt contribute to the thread.
In answer to the OP: when software is open and "free" its like free speech, not free beer.
Somebody had to fight and die for your free speech, cuz freedom isnt free.
Same situation with Android. Google doesnt have volunteers coming up with stuff for them. Those guys get paid, quite well in fact. They are good at what they do. If someone wants to invest millions of dollars in something that is basically free of cost and pretty much open to use, I dont see an issue with them adding teeny little restrictions here and there. Its a crapload better than Apple or Microsoft.
Like Linux it gives us a choice but that choice doesnt have to be perfect, just an acceptable alternative to the other guy.
from what I read its an android thing with their requirements.
Samsung is rumored to announce their tablet next week. We'll see if they have marketplace access.
Maybe google can get away with denying no name chinese makers access, hide behind security and what not. It might be hard/be a big issue denying a much larger company like samsung.
Why do they deny devices like the Augen Gentouch from downloading apps?
The Samsung tablet will be interesting...

Seems it's official, Google has banished the Augen tablet from the marketplace.
So the open OS has a closed marketplace and apps?
And it's available online now...

The google apps and marketplace are closed and google claims they are proprietary. Augen reported bought them through an unlicensed vendor. Whether they were pirated or not it really doesn't matter.
They are being pulled. The tablets may be made but you won't see Marketplace on future builds.
you can read more about it here.
