does the chip link directly to funds or are we on a credit system of some sort? or maybe each time you spend something it takes away a little bit of your soul? or a lot depending on how big the purchase...

absolutely not!

I use cash whenever possible, never give the real information on those little store saving cards, and refuse to get EzPass. While I have nothing to hide, it is not anyones business where I shop, what I buy or where I travel.
