The election is on every channel because there is no news. There is rarely anything important every night anyhow, and they make big stories out of very unimportant happenings.

A nuke flying toward ANYWHERE in the US, let alone D.C., would be guaranteed news on every single channel, and they would continue to repeat the same thing over and over for days, with only short moments dedicated to the election.
