If a minor molests a minor, are they a child sex offender or just a regular sex offender?

With all of this talk about people being mislabled sex offenders, I thought of a scenario that could go wrong.

If a minor molests another minor, would he/she become a child sex offender?

Say a 15 year old molests another 15 year old?

Or if a 15 year old molests a 12 year old?

Pure curiosity. I'm not a minor so it doesn't matter to me (assuming I was gonna go molest some children, which I'm not).

Neither, they were kids being kids.

Although, the ages you've specified.. its starting to get slightly grey, but in general, yeah.. see above.

Its also grey if we're dealing with a 15 year old and someone much younger.

By grey I mean its taken on a case by case basis. It probably also depends on your state.
