Only for food/water if I was going to die without it and no help seemed imminent.

Edit: I'm talking about taking it from stores and such, not private houses or other people.

Topic Title: If a HUGE natural disaster came to YOUR town would YOU loot?
Topic Summary: Anonymous Poll.

Yes, I would help myself to all the "Goodies" I could lay my hands on. To ME it WOULD seem like the end of the world.

Anonymous reply.

Doh!

if conditions were bad for more than a couple weeks I probably would. anything less and I should have enough supplies to tough it out.

I like to think I'd leave a note saying I'd pay the owner of the stuff later if possible.

For food, water & survival supplies, if I didn't already have them, absolutely. However I'm not gonna go out and steal a damn TV or jewelery.

Heres the thing, I wouldn't loot peoples houses because I'd consider that burglary apposed to robbing an abandoned store. I just think stealing from a store is much different than a house. Oh and if the store was locked and in pristine condition after the attack, I wouldn't bother to "break in" just to get some goodies; I don't care what it has, if there is no visible damage then I'd say "move on".

Food, water ...

Maybe a radio or something, I'd say ipod but that's relatively usesless without music to put on it, so yeh, a radio, walkie talkies too.

on a related note, every time I go to Costco I wonder how long I could survive without leaving the building. years probably.

Don't you mean you'd be giving speeding tickets to the people trying to leave before the disaster?

Some of the loot deals should be posted on the hot deal board since they are dirt cheap when that happens... :p

No, there wouldn't be nearly enough time to be running traffic if there was chaos like that. Calls for service take priority.

In dire straits:
food and water.
shoes and clothes as needed.
guns and ammo for the fending off stray bears and thugs.

If I were caught in a flooded city, I wouldn't worry about taking a life vest, life raft or canoe. I would even take a walkie talkie and batteries for it. I would take a tv...a small battery operated one to try to find out what's going on or where to go...no jewelry, not taking 20 pairs of jeans...

I would take as needed to survive, nothing more, nothing less.
