If a G92 8800 GTX comes out will it SLI with G80?

Since we all know a G92 GTS is coming out and probably a GTX will follow do you think nvidia would allow it to SLI with an older GTX?

The only thing we've seen so far with G92 is 256bit bus, so no, and chances are if there is a 65nm single chip GTX coming, it ain't gonna be under the G92 moniker.

I think a 9800gtx is going to come but not based on 256bit memory architecture like the likes of 8800gts but a 512bit memory architecture.

When are the new G92 GTX and GTS supposed to come out. Before christmas? I delayed building new rig because of the 8800GT to come out, then I waited again to see what Phenom would do. Now all I'm waiting on is the new nVidia 7 series mobos then I'm gonna build. But if there's some 768mb G92s coming out before Christmas I'll wait.....AGAIN! But then I might as well keep waiting till January for Penryn. GAH! I'm never going to have my new compy! *sob*

The G92-based GTS will SLI with G80-based GTS cards. If they keep the same model name the driver will probably let you. As the two cards don't have to run at the same speed for SLI, there's no reason why you couldn't SLI them as long as the driver will let you.

The driver does work based off model names somewhat for SLI compatibility, which is why you cannot SLI a GTX with an Ultra even though they only differ by clockspeeds.

OH and they DO have to run at the same speed, and have the same ram, and have the same bandwidth... although if they are based on the same chip the drivers can DISABLE the extra ram/speed/etc on the faster card making them both run the speed of the slower one.

ATI however claims to almost have drivers that will allow completely different cards to do crossfire together at their max capability. (so, rather then doing 1 frame here 1 frame there it will do X frames here Y frames there)
