if a fat hairy midget wanted to increase his green vegetable intake, what green vegetables would he serve at breakfast?

I was looking at a bottle of pink salt and asked my daughter what was wrong with it. She disappointed me in not knowing. One part extolled how pure it was, while another part extolled how many minerals were in it. Which is it; Pure, or full of minerals?

breakfast pho
Aren't those two words redundant? It is like "bright sun" or "tasty pizza" or "hairy midget". You'd be hard pressed to find a dim sun, an awful pizza, or a non-hairy midget. Pho is breakfast food.

Hatch green chilis make most breakfast items better. I roast, peel, chop and freeze about 40 lbs a year. Then, I break off a chunk and put it on everything.

Pan roasted/seared tomatoes and tomatillos are delicious (green or red).

Salsa on everything.

Hash filled with peppers and onions.

Anything from the SneakyChef (check out one of her books from the library). http://www.thesneakychef.com/recipes/

Egg bakes can take on almost unlimited veggies.

In Vietnam, pho is breakfast food. Everywhere else in the world, no. Pho is eaten at lunch and dinner.

No idea, I'm total green blind... am missing the green cones in my eyes. Nothing looks green to me, absolutely nothing. Anything I say is by virtue of hearsay. Now if they want red, I recommend tomato juice.
Egg white omelette with spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, cheese, tomatoes, and topped with avocado.
That sounds good, but personally I'd use whole eggs and add fried bacon, possibly sausage. I do have powdered egg whites on hand but use it only rarely.

No. Hell no. Where the fuck did you get that factoid, the side of a box of pink salt?

Like I said, SUPPOSEDLY. There's so much mixed information out there when it comes to health nobody knows anything 100%.

It can't hurt to use it. Some experts say it's better as it has lot of minerals that your body may not otherwise get easily depending on your diet, and it also is less processed. The white table salt goes through lot of processing such as bleeching etc. But then I'm sure there are OTHER experts saying that the experts are wrong... so who knows. Just thought I'd mention it since salt got brought up.

It's kind of like the whole egg yellow thing. Every couple years the consensus on if it's good for you seems to change. I just eat the whole damn thing.

Well supposedly 5G towers cause covid. It can't hurt to tear them down, some experts say they're dangerous and other experts say the people who think they're dangerous are idiots... so who knows...

There's your argument. Does it sound as stupid to you now as it sounded to us the first time?

There is NO, ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH, NADA information to support the idea that pink salt is better for you. First, it's salt. It's sodium fucking chloride, same as table salt. It's not special because its pink, it's not different from table salt other than having a lot of impurities in it and it's not better for you because some idiots say it supposedly is and other idiots believe those idiots.

That's a stupid comparison, there is rather cut and dry science on stuff like that. RF, physics, electronics etc is simple as you can make experiments and see results. Health and nutritional stuff, not so much as it's way more complicated and there's no real easy way (or humane way) to make experiments and no real way to measure long term stuff. It's all based on studies and each study is done differently and yields different results and there's no agreement on which one is right. Go ahead and google it you'll find tons of mixed results on both sides. Some say the pink salt is good, some say it's not.

I never said either, I just said it's an option worth looking into. You're making a huge deal out of a simple statement that was not even presented as a fact, now fuck off.

You are correct about the fact that it is often somewhere between (A) difficult and (B) impossible to do a proper nutritional study while still being ethical and humane. And yes, studies do differ. One needs to look into the size, length in time, population diversity, reproducibility, etc of the study rather than look at a generic news coverage or blog that tends to ignore those factors.

That said, for colored salt, it isn't quite as difficult. People only use small amounts of salt (because too much makes it unpalatable). Of the salt they use, only small portions are usually colored. And of the colored salt, there is only trace amounts of any minerals in it. So, just logically, we can deduce that the dosage is a trace amount of a small portion of a small amount. There just isn't enough of these trace minerals to matter. Instead, pink salt is a fashion statement: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2018/12/himalayan-pink-salt-in-your-kitchen/577390/

I wouldn't go that far. Different salts have a different flavor, and how it's milled makes a difference too. My least favorite is plain old Mortons. It has a sharpness I find disagreeable.

I agree, I got into sea salt for cooking stuff a while ago and it does seem to yield better results. Hard to say but stews and things just seem better. Wife got some pink salt, the stuff is great on eggs. Sort of more salty but it also is very, very fine so one little pinch does the seasoning perfectly.

yeah, wtf. Though, I think he's talking about the gimicky Hawaaian stuff? which...yeah, isn't at all healthier than any kind of salt
When I hear "pink salt," though, I actually think the real, functional pink salt: "Prague salt" or "#6" or "Curing salt."

lol, totally not healthy. In fact, could kill you quite dead if you ingest too much of that stuff straight (which isn't that much).

Crap is this salt I spoke about earlier going to kill me?
I’m really liking some of this on eggs and green beans. Seems to be saltier than regular table salt but that’s a good thing because it is easier to do a light application of it

Nah, Zin's talking about sodium nitrite. It's used for curing meat. It'll give you cancer in too high a quantity, and I usually try to avoid it, though I do eat some. You won't find it on a table, and ironically, it was colored pink so it wouldn't get confused with table salt.

^^That's just regular salt. You're fine.

zinfamous is talking about this. It's curing salt. This stuff will kill you if eat too much. I use it when I'm making homemade pastrami.

Different salt taste different due to crystal size, shape, and texture.

These are my prized Fleur del Sel salts. I reserve the French sea salt as finishing salt for table side Korean BBQ.
