if a fat hairy midget wanted to increase his green vegetable intake, what green vegetables would he serve at breakfast?

Ooh... I know! Garlic butter Brussels sprouts! I was getting them for Sunday breakfast when I went shopping at Sprouts. They haven't had them in awhile, to my great disappointment.

You have to eat veggies you like. And different people like different veggies. And some people dislike all veggies. If you hate something, it's hard to eat it no matter how good or beneficial it may be to your health.

Tell your lazy friend to get off his ass and exercise. Then he can eat pretty much anything he wants in moderation.

Salt's got a bad rap. For someone without issues otherwise, I'm not sure heavyish salt intake is particularly harmful.

Low salt can kill you. My mom nearly died couple years back from super low sodium level in her blood. She spent a week in the ICU because of it. I took her to the emergency room and the doctors said if I had waited another day, she would've died from low sodium.

This is especially true for folks who do stuff like run marathons in super-hot weather and drink a ton of water.

For most Americans however its a not an issue ... glad mom was okay!

Wow, nobody mentioned a green smoothie made with fruist, greens and perhaps some veggies. The sweetness of the fruit will mask the taste of the greens and/or veggies. Just make sure to drink it kind of slowly to give your body the time to absorb the nutrients.

This time of year it's cold beet soup with sour cream. Home made with lots of beet greens.

Same one as getting a diet-coke with a super-size value meal @ McDogburgers?
I'm trying to imagine how bad an egg white only omelette is so I can work out this analogy but my brain keeps going "WTF! Why?". At least a McDogburger has a bit of grease laden pleasure in it. And egg white only omelette just reeks of constipation and despair!

Pink salt is supposedly better than regular salt so if you like salt you can switch to that as far as your salt shaker goes. Though most food has lot of salt in it by default so it's not really about the salt you put on your food more about what's already in it. Your body does need salt, but there is so much of it in everything that you get way more than what you need. So it does not hurt to cut down. Sugar is the real killer though, really need to cut that out, and that is hard too. It's not just sugar, it's carbs too. Carbs just turn into sugar. Of course it also depends on which "expert" you listen to. There's too much mixed information about what's bad for you and whats not. Let's not get into eggs lol. Sometimes they say the yellow is bad for you and sometimes they don't. I just eat the whole damn thing myself lol. Wait a year, and then they tell you it's ok.

At the end of the day I think everything in moderation is key. Humans managed to survive before the concept of science or health was even known.

If he could cook, he could make scallion pancake.

Pizza is not why he's fat. It's lack of exercise. He can eat anything he wants as long as he exercise and burn it off.
No. It's much, much easier to not be fat by reducing intake than it is to burn it off. It takes a lot of exercise to burn off a single slice of pizza, especially if you're starting from a place of fatness.

Yeah, but if you're starting from a place of fatness you're not going to reduce just by skipping that slice of pizza. You can cut your intake to a level where you're miserable 24/7 and only lose an ounce or two a week. That leads to "why bother?" and you scarf down an entire pizza to celebrate. your new freedom.

If you're fat and don't want to be fat you need to attack things from both directions, a sensible diet coupled with a manageable exercise program will work well enough to produce noticeable weight loss so hopefully the dieter sticks with it. The good thing is that if you're really out of shape it doesn't take much exercise to help, 15 minutes on a stationary bike or treadmill will burn off more calories than an hour would for a person that was in shape.

No. Hell no. Where the fuck did you get that factoid, the side of a box of pink salt?

It worked for me, I started out by just cutting out like 500 calories per day, and I lost my first forty pounds that way. Not that hard to only eat two burritos instead of three for lunch, or eat 4/6 slices of pizza instead of the whole thing. I think it' s more important to do a reduction you can actually maintain, and not try to go from 3-5k calories per day (or whatever) down to 1,500 all in one go. I've lost 120 lbs in the last ten years.
