Do you think i should be responsible for return shipping? Maybe its just me, but i don't think so.

What have your experiences been?

What did you order and what did he send you?

I'd say he should pay for the return shipping.

Yeah, I don't see any reason why you should have to pay return shipping.

seller should pay for all further shipping costs. or, if amenable to you, credit back a portion of the sale price as fair compensation for supplying the wrong drive.

There is a difference between "defective" where the problem might possibly be with your installation techniques and "wrong item" where the blame is very clear.

To the OP, no you shouldn't pay anything other than what you already have.

Speaking as a licensed* ethicist:

Ethically, it's the resposibility of the sellers not you, they should pay the return shipping or for shipping to the correct recipient if they mixed up 2 orders.

* lying, but I did end up as Lawful Good in Planescape: Torment, shouldn't that count?

so i bought a postal scale off ebay, ~$9 shipped. seller sent me 50pk dvds. so i was like,
kool, "free" dvds, but i knew something would have had to be done, pay
or send them back. at first he said ship back the dvds, but then i
offered to buy them for fair market value. i didn't want to
return them because it would be a waste, so he said keep them and he'll send me
back the scale. i kinda felt bad so i sent him a check for fair market value on the dvds.

eventually he got the check, sent me an email saying that i can buy anything
from his auctions less than $20, and he'd give them to me for free. got something to give away for a cheesy
x-mas gift :)

other than the extremely blantant and corny message, true story :p

I wasn't aware of Newegg's "policy" until recently. I got a DVD burner that was DOA. It is total BS that you need to pay shipping both ways on a defective item. I complained and got credit for one way but it's still lame.

ID of the above mentioned seller pls and your ebay id also :)
Would love to do business with people like you and the seller.

Tons of jerks are on ebay nowadays and very few legit people like yourself and the seller.

I agree. We always want to know the "bad" sellers on here and on Ebay. It would be nice to know some of the user IDs of people who are "good" sellers.

I accidentally shipped the wrong game to a guy on eBay. However, I had sold the mis-shipped game to another person across the country so I was in a pickle. He politely told me about the mistake and I offered him shipping costs + $$ or shipping costs + a free game to ship it to the other buyer and I would promptly get his game in the mail. He offerred to buy the mis-shipped game if I shipped him the one he originally ordered. I accepted and then I went online and bought the mis-shipped game brand new from Buy.com and had it delivered to the other buyer.

It is the seller's duty to pay for return shipping in this situation. Had it been the correct drive it would be your duty unless it was DOA.

Did you mean HDD?

I've seen HD used as an abbreviation for hard drive for many, many years.
