If a concert says it starts at 7, what time does it really start?

I haven't been to an arena style concert in many years. The ticket and web pages say 7pm. Does that mean that the opening band starts at 7 or doors open at 7? I know whenever I have been to a club-style concert, it has been 30-60 minutes after the posted time that it usually starts.

It really depends on the venue. A lot of the smaller clubs around here will say that the "doors open" at 8:30, but the bands won't start until 10. With larger shows, such as arena shows, they are usually pretty upfront about the start times because selling 2 more beers isn't a big deal to them.

30-60 minutes if your at a larger venue, a HUGE venue is usually on time. Bar bands usually go up once they're druck and stoned

You should check if smaller "no name" bands are playing. If they are, then the main band usually plays 30 mins to an hour later.
