I was getting this error once every couple of days (Win XP Pro). I thought maybe I had some bad memory, but I just replaced my memory and just got the error again.

IEXPLORER.EXE - Application Error

The instruction at "0x10005f6c" referenced memory at "0x10005f6c". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program

What's the problem?

Your IE probably got corrupted.

Go to www.microsoft.com\downloads

Download IE6 SP1, and install it. It will completely reinstall IE6 (as well as Outlook Express and the Scripting Host).

Reboot, see if that fixes it.

It says: Setup has detected a more recent version of Internet Explorer. Setup cannot continue.

What do I do now?

See your thread in Operating Systems. May I recommend trying a 30-day trial of Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 5 from here, with the scanners at Maximum and use the "From Internet, Extended Databases" option in Settings > Configure Updater.

the only thing Kapirsky found was FLASHGET, which I haven't been using.
Adaware and MS Antispyware found nothing.

Could you find IEXPLORER.EXE and email me a copy at tmcfadden (a) omnicast (dot) net please? :) I can heave it at McAfee for an analysis by a live virus researcher, among other things.

don't get it with any other prog.
source = Application Popup
Event Id: 26

when I click the link, it says NTDLL.DLL - I don't know if that is giving the error or if IEXPLORER could not load NTDLL.DLL.
