I'm using a cable modem to connect to the net, my network card forn now is some bad product from realtek. I looked today on the backpanel of the mobo and saw IEEE 1394a connector, ok i thought maybe i could use it instead of my realtek card, but the problem is wehn i go to networ connections and click ond IEEE 1394a then properties i don+t have the physical adress like other network cards. I need the physical adress so the ISP can change the setting and grant me internet acsess.

Maybe you guys can help me?

Thank you!

1394 is not Ethernet.

You need an ethernet connection to connect to the cable modem.

Pick up a cheap PCI NIC.
