ieee 1394 install

I have a case that came with an optional ieee 1394 port in the front. how can i install one in that spot?

did your case come with a firewire header? It would have a blue wire and a Thick White wire. If u do have that, you need to also have a motherboard with onboard firewire. If so go ahead and connect it, if the wiring is correct. Check your motherboard manuel.

Options:
Buy a MoBo with the headers and cable:
Search Google for the pin Header cable:
Buy a Firewire card with an Internal connect and replace the Case Firewire connect...

The "spot" is only there in that case because they use the same front for cases with and without firewire, and just didn't punch out the panel cover in this case. If you want to activate the port, you'll need to knock out the cover, buy something like http://www.usbfirewire.com/Parts/rr-fw-66ext.html (I've no idea if that is the best price, but it'll do) then mount the one end in the front of the case and plug the other end into a spare firewire port( or cut it up and attach it to motherboard headers if you have them).
