IE7 won't open with blank page

After my upgrade of IE from 6 to 7, it initially opened to a blank page, and that's I'd like for it to do. But, it's not opening to my former home page, www.google.com, and won't let me reset it open to a blank page. Google is, indeed, set as my home page, but IE is still supposed to initially launch to a blank page. That's the way it was working until today.

IE6 or 7 both open the home page when launched... hence the name. If you want new instances to open a blank page then set your home page to "about:blank". To open google from the start menu or desktop use a shortcut to google.com rather than to the program.

I hope this was what you were looking for because your question seems to contradict itself.

Well, I guess I got confused. Once IE is open, a new tab opens to a blank page. And since tabs are a new feature in IE7, I guess that was the reason for the confusion.

Thanks for your reply.
