IE7 Webpage Displays

I tried the upgrade to IE8 when it was released, but HATED it with all the bugs! So, I reverted back to IE7. However, since then, there are many times when I am trying to go to a website that the browser either times out, cannot load, or says "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Web Page". It will do this for the MSN site, Google, Yahoo, or a variety of others that I regularly visit. Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix this?

Yes, I also have Firefox, but there are times that I need to use IE7.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the "reversion"was not really all that great. Can you completely uninstall IE, reboot, clean house, and then start over with IE7?

From what I can tell, there is no way to completely uninstall Internet Explorer as it is tied into the operating system. I really do not want to wipe the hard drive and start all over for this.

Maybe you should try IE8 again - it has had a few updates, and it is working fine for me. I like it because it is now standard with my XP, Vista, and Win 7.

Anyway, you can uninstall IE7 from XP.

MS

And, you can download full IE7 for XP fromMicrosoft. Maybe even reinstall over what you have?

IE7

Don't forget - IE7 was an upgrade to XP from IE6.

I think it might have been the DNS. I did a switch from "automatic" to openDNS and seems to be trouble free for about 24 hours now. Let's hope!

I've been one of the stalwart IE users for a while now even though I'm a computer nerd that 'should' be using anything but IE.. But I gotta admit that IE8 is so awful that I've been trying to force myself to get used to Opera or Firefox. I haven't quite decided which one I like between those two - but I'm leaning toward Opera.

IE is embarassing for Microsoft.. It is unstable, does not display pages correctly, and is slow as hell at rendering pages. Argh.. I need to take the time to install and configure Opera for every computer I use.
