IE7 in Vista - New window for each zone?

Anyway to turn this off? Everytime my mom is browsing the web, sites that are in different zones pop up in new windows, rather than just loading in the same window as normal.

I don't believe so. The rearchitecture of IE in IE8 fixes this, so you can always try the beta (not really recommended for mom )

Actually I found out that if i disabled protected mode, it worked like normal. So i suppose I found the solution, but what is protected mode? Never heard of it before.

Protected Mode is a sandbox for IE. It limits certain things like where IE can write/read etc. More info at

Yeah disabling protected mode isn't really a good solution...
