I re-formatted and re-installed XP-Home this past weekend. I started to installed programs onto my computer, one of which allowed me to locked the Internet Options choice under Tools in IE6 when the program is opened. However, one can access it by right-clicking the Desktop Icon and choose Properties. Now I don't remember which program it was and I would like to remove this restriction.

I had uninstalled some of the programs, but so far no luck. Anyone has any idea what program(s) has this option? Zone Alarm Pro, Ad-aware 6, SpyBot S & D, Spywareblaster, AVG Anti-virus. Other than these, I can't see any of the other programs I installed has this feature.

Maybe you got the program that did it, but it changed a setting. Check this (something I googled):

Start / Run: GPEDIT.msc
Then User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet
Explorer/

morkinva,

Thanks. I'll try that when I get home tonight.

dpm,

I thought that was it too. But after I un-installed the program, the lock was still in place. Also, when I re-installed it, it didn't ask me if I wanted to permit/deny access to the Internet Options in Tools as I had remembered the program doing when I install that other program.

dpm,

You're right. It was in Spybot, Immunize. The only thing is, why wasn't the lock removed when the program was un-installed?

morkinva,

XP Home does not have the gpedit.msc feature. It is only available for XP Pro.

Anyway, thanks guys for your help.
