IE6 PROBLEM WITH CONNECTING TO USPS

It's so strange....I have XP Pro, IE6 and for some reason I can't connect to www.usps.gov or www.usps.com. I have tried clearing my history, deleting temp files, and cookies. I even tried using Netscape Nav 6.2...but no luck....I just wan't to track a shipment....Please help.
 
um.... are you sure your connection is not down? its absurd that you can't connect to usps.... its a government site for goodness. try restarting your computer.

or you can just wait for your shipment without seeing that when it shipps from NY to NJ, it actually goes to california first. 😀
 
I'm having very similar problems. Since I upgraded to XP I can't connect to a number of sites I could before. Accuweather Local Forecast, IRS Forms, 3com, and the list goes on. Most sites are no problem. There doesn't seem to be a pattern but then I don't know what's going on with the other end of the connection.

I have tried connecting through Google search results and that doesn't help either. :disgust:
 
Grumpyman has a good point - you might have the XP Firewall active. I go to this URL all the time to look up Zip + 4 numbers:

First of all I don't have my firewall enabled, and my internet connection is up. (I chatted with customer support for about 15 minutes before deciding that the guy didn't know jack)
I can connect to every site I've tried except for www.usps.gov and www.usps.com
I even tried looking up their ip address using nslookup www.usps.gov in dos.
Oh well, the gov must hate me 🙁
 
So, when you used nslookup, did it find the IP number?

If not, then the problem is most likely that your ISP's nameserver sux. Sometimes things just "magically" fall out of the DNS, and then you can't do jack.

Try entering http://56.0.78.101/ into your browser.
If that works, you know the culprit is your ISP.

Edit: No space after http://
