IE6 doesn't resolve website without "http://"

One of my users reported a strange problem: IE6 would not work unless the full URL was typed in the Address bar.

For instance, "www.google.com" would result in IE seemingly working on taking her to the page, but nothing but a white screen would be displayed while the little Windows symbol fluttered away in the wind for an eternity.

But then typing "http://www.google.com" would immediately take her to the Google search page.

This happens with every single website.

She is the only user that has this problem. I've tried resetting her IE settings in case she was messing with them, but this did not correct the issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sure enough, she has the HP Share to Web software on her computer that's causing this conflict with that MS update.

This also means they are probably running a very old version of HP's (garbage) Share-to-Web software. They should update it to a recent version.

Actually, the newest driver package for a HP ScanJet 3500 was installed... today. The Share-to-Web software appeared after this.
