IE6 Crashing (XP)

I've got a problem where IE has started crashing repeatedly, and I've been unable to find the cause.
I'm running Windows XP and IE6.
When it crashes, I get the error:

Runtime Error!
Program C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

The title of the window is "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"

There's no rhyme or reason to when this browser crashes. I've got a ton of ram, and the system was running with IE6 for quite a while without incident. I tried running Windows Update, but there was nothing new to fix. I tried reinstalling IE6, but they way they have it setup, it doesn't really download anything since it thinks I've already got it installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Telstar

Do you have any plugins to IE? I had this problem a while back with the Google search bar plugin.

Yahoo Messenger and Microsoft Messenger have installed their icons into my browser, but that's about it.
I just reset my cache and my cookies, so maybe that will clear it up. We'll see.

Edit: nope... still crashing

Slikkster,

I ran that command, it went through the whole process ... had me insert my XP CD and I had to click "retry" about a billion times, and then the utility closed without any sort of message. Does that mean it copied some files that had been modified?
