IE settings effecting other programs

Hey guys, I'm having an issue with one of the settings in IE. I don't use IE too often but its settings effect other programs (like yahoo music and widgets).

Under the LAN settings in internet options "Use automatic configuration script" is checked with a proxy address in the address box. This is how our old satellite system was setup, but the new one doesn't require it.

I uncheck that box and check Automatically detect settings and everything works fine, but the next time I start windows up the proxy address box is checked again.

I searched through the registry and disabled autoproxy, but that didn't help. There has to be a place in there somewhere to keep it from automatically changing the setting back on.

Thanks for any help you guys may have

Sounds to me like you have some other internet software installed on this pc that's running at startup, and then executing the script.

You need to look for this culprit in your startup programs.

You can use msconfig (start/run/msconfig), but a more complete option is Mike Lin's Freeware "Startup Control Panel".

Once you install it, it puts an icon in your Control Panel labeled "Startup". You can see where every startup program is running from, and selectively disable, move, delete, etc.

Get it here:
