Hi, there is something weird about my IT. If I try to open a website by double clicking on the icon, instead of opening IE, I get for example when I want to open ATi website, I get this

[DEFAULT]
BASEURL=http://www.ati.com/
[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://www.ati.com/
Modified=60897572F155C201D9
IconFile=C:\WINDOWS\system32\url.dll
IconIndex=0

what the heck is going on? Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by double clicking the icon instead of opening IE.

Do you have a shortcut to ATI.com on your desktop?

EDIT - also what operating system?

If you are double clicking on the shortcut on your desktop, then it sounds like IE lost the association to hyperlink shortcuts.

Hold down shift, right click on the shortcut and select open with the choose IE and make sure always use this program is checked.

It looks like IE is opening the URL shortcuts as a text file instead of a regular internet shortcut. I don't really know what to do though.

I am using Win XP.

yes, I have the shortcut on my desktop and it opens that thing instead of the webpage.

I did choose the IE and make sure that the program is checked but it's still acting like that.
