IE problem - can't reach certain links and/or sites

This is a head-scratcher for me........2 scenarios.....1) Can reach a certain website...say JetBlue...with no problem, but when I try to access a link, such as 'Book Travel Now' or whatever, the IE icon just keeps churning like it's working, but then times out with the standard IE error message to check website, browser, etc.

2) Simply can't reach certain websites period when I type in the URL or reach via Google search result (get same standard time out in browser)

Most websites/links can be accessed...seems to be just a few...at least that's all I've come across to this point.

WinXP home w/IE 6 or 7 (not sure...at work right now)

Thanks all.

1. either the website is dead, or down (it happens quite a lot)
2. or those sites are specifically coded for Firefox only (Anti IE movement, YAY!!!) 😀

Actually....I should have mentioned that I have my daughter's old dell close by running W2K and I can access said links & sites with no problem...other than just being slow. Sooooo anytime I want to book a flight online w/JetBlue.....I have to do it on her p/c (???) Funny how it lets me get to the home page...and even access a few of the other links on the page...but if I try to hit the 'Book a Flight' link...it just whirls around then times out. Get the same on some other sites (homepages)...but not all. And always.....I can get there using the other, older, p/c...(??)

I know...I know Get rid of the newer XP and go back to the older one...but I really want to find out why. BTW....no other problems with the XP box.

sounds like cached problem, with HTTPS credentials issues

try emptying out all cookies, and all cached pages

configure IE to refresh every time

or simply try another browser for a change, like FireFox or Opera

There's nothing wrong with XP. Going back to older versions really doesn't solve anything, regardless what people say. 🙂

Have you done a check for spyware/malware?

I'm going to try what AllGamer suggests first when I get home......clearing the cache, cookies, etc. and see what happens.

As far as spyware, malware, etc. I routinely run SpyBot and Adaware (the $$ version) and things are usually pretty clean. Oddly though, when I attempt to check for upgrades for Adaware it hangs on 5% and that's it...I keep meaning to check with Lavasoft about that but haven't so far.

Tarrant 64 - Is there anything else out there that's worth running....preferably for free...to check?

It's what AllGamer suggested........Once I cleaned things up in the cache, etc. I was able to reach the sites and/or links from certain sites.

Thanks all.....
