IE or Netscape...Which do you like better?

Oh no...this is gonna turn into 1 big flamewar, I can already see it

I mostly use Netscape(communicator 4.74) simply coz I'm more used to it. However, most pages are coded with IE in mind, so may look weird when viewed with Netscape, so sometimes I use IE5 too. IE is more fault tolerant when it comes to HTML, so if you make a mistake, IE will still try to guess what you're doing, but Netscape either doesn't, or guesses pretty badly.

When creating websites, I prefer IE coz things work easier/more convenient. But when viewing websites, either is fine for me, except Netscape seems to crash more often.

One small thing that bugs me about IE5 is that when I press Alt-F to search the page, the menu pops out sooo slooowly...at least compared to Netscape, which is instantaneous. Also, I can't press F3 to search, or even search again, like I can in Netscape. Pressing F3 will prompt a File Search instead.

Now that AOL bought out the TRUE netscape team(then they all left). I would have to say, IE is the future, AOL ruins everything they touch.

HECK, have you used the new netscape what a load-of-crap...

Sorry, just pisses me of when my favorite app gets ruined by a no-brains company. I still use netscape 4.7 while i learn IE...

I tested the new netscape on my backup machine, then after seeing all the screwups immediatly reloaded the drive. Boy was i pissed Netscape WAS my favorite...

I haven't used Netscape in a long, long time. It loaded slowly, crashed often, and didn't render pages very quickly. I switched to IE and all these problems were gone. But I hated IE's Favoriates -- NS's bookmarks were so much better. No problem. I registered a shareware program called PowerMarks. IE+PowerMarks all the way, baby.

I used to use Netscape, I am not able to use IE, because Micro -killemall- $oft decided that Linux was too little a market for IE.
Then, one fine day, a miracle happened. Mozilla came along.
I've been using Mozilla for a long time now (few months) and it has become my primary browser. In effect: Netscape is better because Mozilla IS Netscape.

I think Microsoft should die because of their unwillingness to port their Explorer to Linux. It's a good program, and they know it. But you can only use it in Microsofty Windows (or an OS that doesn't threaten Windows's Monopoly).

I use MSIE. I use to use Netscape but it crashed a lot. I got sick of downloading the updates or the new versions (because the update thing didn't work or worked badly) so I started using MSIE. It comes on those AOL or Earthlink disks so I don't have to download it if I reformat. MSIE feels like it loads faster, loads pages faster, renders pages more smoothly, handles java apps better, and gives more viewing space because you can move around the cool bars.

Netscape 4.74. It rarely crashes and when it does I just fire it up again and continue on. With IE5.x I get at least one crash a day which brings my whole system down! My system currently works as an ICS server so when it crashes it is a major pain when a couple people come asking me why they can't access the internet.

I have Netscape 6 installed, but it still has some annoying bugs, such as the text not appearing while typing out messages on some message boards(like right here at Anandtech). So I don't really use it much, it is fast for general surfing though.

I used to use Netscape before IE5 came out... cuz IE4 crashed so much in win98 I used Netscape for the stability...

However, once I switch to win2k and IE5, I only use IE for it's speed...

I like Opera the best for most tasks. It is faster and much more stable than either netscape or internet explorer.

It does have problems displaying certain pages. When that happens I fire up IE 5.01. I like it much better then netscape.

If you don't mind seeing the occasional page misrendered, check out opera. the non-Java version (what I use) is only a 1.75 mb download. It is availible for linux, beos, and windows 3.1, 9x, and NT. You do have to register it though
