IE not saving History logs... Any ideas?

My IE has not been saving any surfed URL's to history even though its set to do so. When checking the History, its all just blank.

I've changed the 'clear history' setting to 30 days even but no luck. Also, after a system restart, already-clicked-links (purple) become blue again as if I've never clicked them before.

Any ideas on why this is happening? Its been like this ever since I re-installed my OS a few months ago. Just never really got around to troubleshooting it till now. Kind of annoying. Thanks!

What software have you got running.

Sounds like there is something like Window washer, or another privacy scrubber.

Hi Montag,

I don't have any sort of privacy scrubber software running. Its been doing this since I installed the OS...
I checked the actual History folder under my profile and saw that it was set to Read Only. Thoght maybe that was it but then I checked other machines (in which the History worked fine) and those folders were set to Read Only also...

Any ideas what else it might be? I don't wanna have to re-install the OS just to fix this dinky little problem.... 🙁

From the Microsoft KB

SYMPTOMS
If you exit and restart Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP, and then try to view the history by date, no data appears. This behavior may also occur when you start Windows XP in Safe Mode, and you cannot resolve the behavior by deleting the temporary Internet files, cookies, downloaded program files, or the history in Internet Explorer 6.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if your antivirus software has a Microsoft ActiveX blocking feature.

I'm having a similar problem with IE's history. It doesn't come up blank, but it just keeps deleting days...like it won't save past three or four days it seems...My history is supposed to save for 200, but for some reason it's just not keeping them...I don't believe Norton has anything blocking ActiveX, nothing that I set at least...so what should I do?

Come on, I know this is an old topic, but I didn't want anyone ragging on me for create a duplicate topic...

Well somebody has to do it..

Try firefox, its so 1337, it will make your life better and you will feel like a better person after you use it.
