IE mess up.. Title bar acting up..

i tried to do a search.. but couldnt find this problem.. might be too old.. but my friend has been downloading everything and clicking yes on those pop up installations.. now he's couple virues and his system is pretty mess up too.. the one major problem is that when he try to open up window explore.. the title bar shows a trail of squares... can someone help out?
