IE Lockup after Spinup

This is driving me insane.

Whenever let my computer sit for a while, my HD spins down. Ok, no problem. i can browse the Net all day long.

As soon as I go to type in an address, either in the address bar, or from the "Open" box, the HD spins up, then IE locks up. I hear the "click", then it just sits there. I have to kill IE, then it takes explorer with it.
