IE help needed - saves imgs as bmp

this is going to sound lame, but I really dont know this stuff...

As of a day or two ago, around the time when Win XP (home) did an update of a service pack, whenever I try to save images by right clicking, it always defaults to *.bmp, instead of whatever the filename really is. Regardless of whether its a jpeg or gif, it only saves it as a bitmap with no preassigned title.

Can anyone help me with this. Sorry to ask a silly question, but I'm stuck. Thanks!!!

Tools, Internet Options, Temporary Internet Files, Delete Files. You may need to clear your history as well.

 
i attempted what you said Bozo, but windows froze up both tries. so i went through norton 2003 to erase the cache, internet files, and url history. it worked.

if it happens again, ill try what you said. thanks a ton!!
