there are two things i use all the time and which i *hate*...

a) my dialup connection (and comcasts unability to put cable in my area despites their promises)

b) IE cache bug

It seems noone ever mentions this bug...also after several new OS, service packs and updates the bug is still there, and it annoys me a lot, probably because i am on dialup and therefore i get to 'see' it much more than people on broadband.

I have XP Sp1, latest IE.

The temporary internet cache does NOT work right, never really did !!! I do have my cache settings in IE on Auto....but:

*) i load a picture on a webpage
i go to another site
i go back..the whole picture is DOWNLOADED again thru my ^#%*!!! dialup instead of coming off the cache

*) i go to a website, say anandtech, rage3d etc. It has gadgets, buttons etc. Every single one is (usually) a small *.gif image.

EVERY time i go to this site i see that stuff getting *downloaded* - even if i just was on the page....NO...what is wrong with the temporary internet folder ?? I have mine at about 200MB btw...and (as said) the settting for it on 'auto'.

It just doesnt make sense i download all that &*%#!!! over and over again, and i mean things which for sure should come off the cache and not the dynamically changing contents.

Never ever everyone notices that ???????

Edit:

It does not happen all the time - but in the majority of cases/websites it does. Just idiotic to see it downloading menu buttons etc. when you've been on the same site just a few hours ago and all that content is still the same. Or clicking on a picture you just downloaded and seeing it d/l again even if you know you have it in your temp folder...
