IE > FireFox

i tried this sucker after everyone praised it, i find that it is hardly a match for IE, all it does is force to reinstall stuff i already have installed with IE, with IE i have a adblocking program that blocks images and pop ups, Mozilla takes longer to load, does not display certain pages as well as IE, and i feel uneasy with its meager privacy settings. I see no reason for anyone to desire this thing over IE, i could see maybe if IE was not built in to windows but with something that is better already there, why bother? i mean you get all of your updates thru windows update and its easy.

-find as you type
-built-in google bar
-built-in popup blocker
-custom style sheets
-NO MORE DAMN IE EXPLOITS TO WORRY ABOUT.
-Download Manager, choose a folder to automatically download, then you don't have to hit save everytime.

Doesnt IE security holes affect you still since ITS BUILT INTO THE OPERATING SYSTEM SO WE ARE ALL FVKED NO MATTER WHAT

1 thing i like about firefox(any mozilla flavor infact) is when you have visual studio install you dont need to deal with the debug error dialog box all the time, thatz irritating

You're telling me the exploit to spoof a URL in IE affects me just because IE is on my computer? You're an idiot.

BINGO! "-NO MORE DAMN IE EXPLOITS TO WORRY ABOUT."

Most definately. I have been using Firebird for like 5 months and I did an Adaware and Spybot scan the other day. You know hoe many things Adaware found? 8! And they were cookies that I knew about! Using IE, I would accumulate around 50-100 adware files over a month or two.

Seriously, dude. I was about to kick his ass.

lol....don't know if I would go that far but I was a little shocked by the title....glad to see it was only about a browser 🙂

What I like:

Built-in popup blocking (no need for Google toolbar)
Noticeably faster at rendering pages
Loads faster
Tabbed browsing
Download manager (finally, no more 20 million "where to save" prompts!)
Not nearly as vulnerable to popular security exploits

What I don't like:

No auto-installation of plugins
Some pages look screwed up, but that's almost definitely the designer's fault for not using standards
...that's about it

I just tried it a few days ago, and it's my new default browser. I LOVE it.

well, if you're not actively using IE, you can't be exploited, now can you....?

i did not run it for a while and only found 3, take it im running with spybot with immunize and the host blocked, and spyware blaster that is constantly kept up to date and my privacy settings set to high

I use Mozilla 1.6 and I think it's great. I use the stand-alone email client Thunderbird, even though Mozilla has an email client built-in.

No, the exploits are almost always caused through holes in ActiveX. Firefox does not support ActiveX and it does not effect 99.999% of the legitimate Internet in any way, shape or form.

IE is bloatware that doesn't even have functionality. If something is going to be bloated it should at least have FEATURES. Thank God for FireFox.

Ain't that the truth. I gave it a fair fight to take over IE as my primary browser. It's not as GREAT as everyone makes it out to be. So wow, something finally caught up to IE and added a few more on top of it. How long did it actually take them ? Maybe in a few years when they come up with ideas on their own. Loading pages quicker than IE by milliseconds is a nice accomplishment though... I never thought it could be done.

And BTW, tabbed browsing is still slower than alt-tabbing to new windows. I don't get the hype and I certainly don't get why people put down IE while doing it. Oh wait, I do.

OH AND THE INTERNET CACHE WORKS

as opposite to IE.......for me (dialup) MUCH FASTER surfing.....that alone is a reason to use FF over IE
(But i guess you all have broadband and have no clue that IEs cache never worked right anyway)

FF owns IE 10000 times....

Edit: if IE users would have a monitor and see what IE actually *downloads* and what it gets locally off the cache i think *some* people would be very surprised 🙂 I dont say FF is perfect although the 0.8 release is great - but its a really GOOD browsers..hands down....
