IE, Firefox, and Trillian stuck in Italic fonts

I'm probably overlooking something simple to fix this, but somehow the other night my fonts were put into italics mode for default fonts.

So most web pages, instant messenger dialog boxes show italics fonts. It's driving me nuts.

While I type this it's not italics, but I know when I read the post my writing will be.

Is there a global font reset option somewhere in Windows XP? I've tried changing themes and font types but nothing's worked so far.

(currently running XP Pro, SP2, IE6, FF 1.5)

What Italics Lock ? ? ... never heard of it

And why is it that some web pages, mainly Yahoo Mail & Yahoo Finance insist on using their default fonts
instead of what I like to use ? ... I tried manually setting them in Firefox and telling it not to allow web sites
to choose their own fonts, worked for a couple of days, then this morning on Yahoo Mail, it was some idiotic,
very small, maybe Italicised font .. had to go back to letting it pick its own fonts again

I hate that ... I set a text size I way, say with IE6 & website resets it back to what it wants

It would sure be nice to know exactly which option does what in Display Properties, Appearance Tab, Advanced
Some of them are fairly clear, on others you can't be sure what it will affect if you change it

What option would only change the Preferred Font when a web page loads, but leaves fonts in other areas the
way they currently are at ? ? ?
