IE crashes after opening files via links

Any time I try to open a .ppt or any file for that matter that is linked through a site, IE crashes. It doesn't open the file either. I first noticed it w/ adobe acrobat reader. In uninstalled it and reinstalled it and now it works fine. I've run virus scans also. Any ideas?

Run adaware and just do a good general clean up of your system. Do you have IE completely updated?

ive seen various computers lock up on opening .pdf files. what happens if you right click and save target as? does it still freeze or does the download go ok?
