I am having a small problem with my browsers both firefox and IE. For some reason, every other page opens very slow, and every other page in IE opens in a minimized window. It has never done this before. I ran a virus check, adawre and spybot check and everythings clean. Anyone experience these problems before? I also cleard the browsers cache and still having probs. Please help thanks :)

What are the specs of your machine? How full are your hard drives? Do you have all the updates installed?

I am not sure about IE since I very seldom use it. What kind of Internet connection do you have?

Resized windows in IE usually means spyware. I don't trust Adaware or Spybot anymore - they miss a lot (I do this for a living) and just running a spyware scan is not enough anymore. You may have a malicious BHO object or your HOSTS file may be compromised.

Please refer to my detailed spyware removal instructions here: http://theflyingpenguin.com/spyware-removal.shtml
Also I would recommend you run a FULL virus scan in SAFE MODE.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for replying to my little problem. Sorry for the long delay in getting back to your replys.

What are the specs of your machine? How full are your hard drives? Do you have all the updates installed?

Here are my specs:

Amd 3400+
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2400 MHz (free space 117 gb)
1024 MB (DDR SDRAM) Corsair
Ge force 6800 GT (256)
56K dialup connection (but never connects at 56, always 40 to 46 Kbps)
Windows XP Pro
Latest IE
Latest Firefox
AVG Anti virus

The minimized window only pops up when I open the browser. Most the time, it is maximixed, but im guessing every 15th or 20th time I open it, it comes up minimized. I just like things to work 100% perfect :)

About the updates, I dont think I have any installed. You mean the updates on the hard drives dont you, Willoughbyva?

Thanks again :)

Well, that?s mainly a problem, Willoughbyva means the Windows system security updates and such from Windows Update, but with a 56k connection it would take far too long to DL all of the stuff. And since you are on 56k, I must ask, does this happen on a random site or a specific one? The slow loading could just be your net connection. Not all websites are built the same, are the same size or format, some are much much larger than others and thereby take more time to load.

EDIT: Oppps, messed up the URL :p

Hey Blitz! Well, my home page is set to google.com, and come to think of it, thats the site it happens on when it loads a window thats minimized. It happend two times today that I counted. I think it has happend on other sites also but I cant really remember. The sites have been loading fast today, but some days it is slow. I just tryed clicking on the IE icon on my desktop 34 times to see if the page would load in a minimized window and it didnt happen. Of course when I want it to, it wont. Maybe it is just googles page that loads minimized at every other load?

About the windows update, I do have it set to update every day, but it usualy updates once or twice a month around the 15th. So my rig is up to date as far as the Windows system goes. :) I downloaded the "Microsoft Antispyware Beta" that flyingpenguin mentioned in his website, and I only had one medium threat spyware show up which was called "PowerRegScheduler application". That never showed up on spybot or adaware. But I think its part of a game I have, so I am afraid to delete it. I didnt run the antispyware in safe mode though, maybe that wil show more?

Before you dive into Safe Mode, right-click & save this text file and download the manual McAfee scanner it mentions, and unzip it to C:\McAfee as instructed. Now reboot in Safe Mode and run the scan as the text file says. When the scan is done, the scanner will close. PM me the output, which is in C:\Report.html, if you want me to help scope out the results :)

Reason I recommend this is that McAfee detects some stuff that uses IE to download malware after tampering with your IE Zone Security settings. Example: QlowZones-25. Some of these puppies open unwanted IE windows to do their thing. It's a long shot, but hey :)
