IE 6 - can't do any downloads -

WIN ME - IE 6.0 - browsing fine, but when I try to download a file from any of a number of sites, when it should start downloading, I get an empty window and "done" in the status bar. Any help??
 
Check your Privacy and Security settings. You may have them too high. That can lock out downloads. Use the default.

If that does not help, you may need to uninstall IE6 and then go back to 5.X and download the Custom IE6 files and install them manually. I don't have a lot of faith in the Microsoft on-line installation process for much of anything. 🙁
