IE 6 and XP...where's the little info bar on the bottom of the window?

Yea, I was torn--Do I post this in the 'Highly Technical Forum' or here in OT....


I forget what you call it, but when you would move the mouse over a link, it would show you the URL ahead of time instead of poke n' hope...how do I get it back?

Don't feel bad, I was just wondering that myself last night. I just hadn't spent time looking for it. Its only usefull to me to view the source of a link before I click on it.

ugh....it there a way to change this to default? I didn't see it under the advanced options...have to keep clicking on "status bar" everythime I open IE

Open Regedit
Got To HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Change the value of Show_StatusBar to 1

that will make it default

How do you make it default when you are just browsing through your files in XP?

That registry edit did it for me.

Close all your windows before you do it though.

me neither...my value was set to "yes" ...tried 1...to no avail....grrrr
