IE 6.0 (XP Version) will ONLY save pictures as .bmp...nothing else...someone HELP please!!!

Very odd problem, with WinXP I can only save images as .bmp files when I "right click, save as". Even if it is a jpg, it refuses to let me save it as such. Never seen this problem in the past, can someone help?
