IE 6.0/Win XP amnesia (History problem) + OE question

Yesterday Internet explorer just stopped remembering anything in history. I rely on it! Any idea what might cause this? Nothing was changed vs when it worked properly.

Also, I was wondering if there is a way to have Outlook Express 6 automatically place something in the subject line (such as "thank you for your e-mail...") .... I send a lot of e-mail to friends each day. That would be much better than just Re:.

Update: I can temporarily solve the first issue by deleting some of the history contents. If anyone has any ideas on how to eliminate the flakiness of the history, please post. 🙂 (I have plenty of hard disc space)

Still looking for ideas on the second one...
