IE 6.0 and 128-bit encryption?

When I had IE 6.0 and tried to access my online banking at Chevy Chase Bank, I received a message that my browser was not compatible because it did not have 128-bit encryption. My question is whether the problem is that the bank has not updated its system for IE 6.0, or whether IE 6.0 lacks 128-bit encryption, and can I do anything about it?

IE 6 does have the 128bit encryption. Make sure yours is not corrupted though. Click on help --> About Internet Explorer. Look at the cypher strength. If it is anything but 128 you have a problem. Otherwise it is most likely an issue with IE 6 not being fully compatible with the bank software yet.
