IE 5.5 Autocomplete?

Jal

Senior member
When I type in an address, I get it pop up at me, even though my history is clear, cookies nuked, etc. etc.

It was an old favorite, so I assume it is in some file, yet not showing up in my Favs. -- make sense? 🙂

Anyone know where the Favorites are stored on disk?

Cant find this link in the registry either.. Blechhhh.

edit: running on Windows2000

It shouldn't be in the favorites (documents and settings\<user name>\favorites), but try clearing your history again (and setting days down to 0), as well as clearing cache (temporary internet files) and disabling AutoComplete under tools>options>content>personal information.

Nuked it all, double checked, still does it.. Maybe autocomplete compared to Favs.. Even with autocomplete off, it pops up on the address bar as I type

Clear Internet Explorer Typed URL History (Windows 9x and NT)
Internet Explorer caches any URL's that are typed into the address bar. This could become a privacy issue on a shared computer, or it may become a nuisance if there is a particular URL you want to remove without clearing the whole history.
Open your registry and find the key below and delete any value you want to remove.

Settings:
Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
TypedURLs]

Copy and pasted from Regedit .com
