IE 5.0 under Win2k won't play WAV files properly

Hi there,

I've recently noticed this bizarre problem on my Win2k system. When I click on ANY Internet link to a .wav file, I get a BUNCH of garbage text rather than a helper app playing the sound file.

I've checked the file types for Windows, and they seem to be set just fine... When I double click on a .WAV file from the desktop, for instance, it plays in Winamp just fine... But not through IE 5.0.

Any thoughts on how to fix it?

I had a similar problem in win ME, it was opening the .wav and showing code. I installed the new media player and it went away. Another way to get it to quit may be to reestablish the .wav association to winamp, then IE5 won't try to open it.

Hope I was useful (which is always questionable).
