I've seen a ton of threads around about internet explorer not opening up beyond the task bar. It happened to me last night when my clipboard slid off the desktop and hit my kb in just the right way. Once that happened I could only peek at the open windows as they'd never appear on my desktop. I tried system restore, scannow which did find a corrupted system file and I was pulling my hair out until I stumbled across someone who posted the win + P key combination to check on the display mode. Turns out my clipboard turned on spanning when it hit my keys which is what prevented IE from opening fully. Once I returned my settings to main monitor it behaved normally.
I thought that I'd post this just in case it should happen to someone else so they can see what I did to restore functionality. With so many features in the os these days along with shortcuts an accident like this is bound to happen sooner or later and I had mine last night.
