IE 11 on win 8.1 won't allow google to be added as a search engine

My tablet is running win 8.1 and every time I start ie 11 and try to add google as a search engine it just sits there and never allows it to be added. My desktop and laptop can add search engines just fine but my tablet will not allow it. Have any of you encountered this before and if so how did you overcome it? I even tried going to google and clicking on the make google my default search engine button but nothing happened with that either.

Both the manage add ons andr the drop down menu in the search bar will launch the web page with the search engines. When you click on the tile to add it the page will load but when I click on the add search engine button I get nothing.

It appears that windows update KB3038314 released on super patch Tuesday is the culprit and must be uninstalled. Once I uninstalled it and rebooted IE works normally again and I can add search providers at will.

I ran into something similar the other day. Although it allowed a provider change, I was surprised to not see Google on the list of providers until I actually searched providers for Google. Somehow Google's two star rating on IE search providers has buried it in several pages. Nice try, Microsoft, nice try.
