'Idol' producers want Howard Stern to replace Cowell

"American Idol" producers are eager to hire Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell as the show's tough-talking judge, sources tell Page Six. An insider said that producers of the hit Fox show say Stern, America's highest-paid radio personality, is their top choice to take over from Cowell, who leaves at the end of this season. They approached the King of All Media after he repeatedly mentioned on-air that his exclusive Sirius XM Radio deal expires next January and he was open to other offers. Cowell was paid $50 million a year.
A source connected to "Idol" said, "It's one of the few shows that could compete with Stern's $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and 'Idol' bosses think he'd be even nastier than Simon.

(Realistically I don't think it's going to happen, Howard won't leave radio and fears flights so unless he relocates to California, he won't be going back and forth. Great idea though)

Well, I can't stand Howard Stern, don't watch American Idol, avoid Fox, and think it's appalling Simon Cowell got anything like that money for that, so...
 
No way to keep him clean...from shouting expletives, etc.

Exactly... If Fox hires Stern to do ANY TV show on public airwaves, it will only be a matter of time until the FCC fines start coming in. He's a loose cannon!

Unlike his radio show, television is not live so they can edit out his expletives.

I think he'd be better at Porn Idol. Or maybe that's what American Idol would become? Sounds like an improvement.
 
The show is starting to become a parody of itself and should end quietly at the end of this season. The disillusioned tryout contestants would have to find other avenues to start their careers.

As far as Howard Stern...that would be interesting. Female contestants that are attractive would have to answer penetrating questions about their willingness to do anything to get into show business.
 
Stern: "That was pretty decent. Could you show us your boobs? I really would like it if you did that again only this time while sitting on this sybian. Do you want to go to Hollywood or not. Well then, no wood for me, no Holly for you."
