Idiots in college.

Trying to do an assignment for my writing class. We had to send a rough draft of our second paper to 3 other people and we're going to meet and discuss how we can improve our papers. Assignment consists of stating an issue on television related to body image (lack of minorities, lack of fattys w.e) and suggesting regulations to solve the issue you pick. Professor specifically said the only way to really fail this assignment is to focus on the problem rather then arguing for your solutions.

Well what do all 3 of the people I'm reviewing do? Spend 4 pages talking about the problem rather than any solutions. 2 of them don't even mention anything to solve the problem they suggest. All the peer review questions are related to these solutions and I haven't a clue how to answer them because these other kids are all morons.

I hate idiots. It's the only thing he specifically said not to do and they all did it.

He did say this was allowed and in real life I would take this position but it's just easier to ramble off some stupid government babying for a few pages then try and explain why it's a bad idea. Just give him what he wants.

No one argued that, they just keep reiterating the problem they feel exists and never move past that.

People are idiots. Plain and simple. I recall some class project in some international politics class. There's 10 people in a boat drifting around, and we, as a group, must unanimously decide which one to kill off. No other criteria. We just had to pick one.

And these fucking idiots spent an hour arguing with each other, completely unable to decide between the grandma and the 8 year old - notwithstanding my repeatedly telling everyone it didn't fucking matter. Flip a coin and be done with it.

Apparently the Asian girl in our class wouldn't allow it. Something about respecting elders or some other kung fu bullshit. All the class had to do was pick anyone else in the boat - we didn't even have to explain our rationale in how we chose the person.

This proved too difficult.

I was so pissed I wanted to kill everyone in the boat, followed by everyone in the class.

The best part is that those four people will manage to get good enough grades to follow you all the way to graduation. You will then have to choose between framing your diploma or literally using it for toilet paper because you know that if those four people graduated too, that's the only good use for it.

That, at least, is what I experienced in Computer Science in the 90's.

I love old people at college. I went to CC for 2 years before transferring into my 4 year school. All the old people we're always so excited to be there. Not like the lazy fucks who trolled that place for years on end.

But it's also the funnest because you're not going through the motions anymore, and appreciate what you're learning more than the regular 18/19 year olds (I said "more"...).


And I hear the OP... simple questions turn into full on debates, and you usually end up listening to two people take up 10 minutes of a 50 minute class over some pointless bullshit because they have to satisfy their egos.
