I've been messing around with this over the weekend (when I wasn't busy getting vi_edit drunk, that is :p ) and have the basics down I guess. I can pull up a list of hubs, connect, intitiate a download, etc. Any pointers with regard to finding good hubs, security issues, etc? I'm a tad loathe to leave my rig on and connected to someone overnight at this point since I don't know all the ins/outs of the program.

Thanks! :)

I'd like to know as well... I had it for awhile but eventually got rid of it because 1) it requires a lot of shared files and 2) I really couldn't get the hang of it.

\well if your runnion a AV proggram yull be ok. its safer the Kazaa because most hubs are policed for bad files and viruses. just liek anything be carfull when downloading .EXE files. noone can upload into you so you ok with that one. and as far as i can tell there is no spyware in it. which is good. i have had mine runnin 24/7 for about 2 weeks. i also run a HUB and its been fine. sometimes it eats into my resources when peopel liek to take my whole HD but thats about it.

if you are having trouble getting files and you are behind a firewall. put it into passive mode and it will work

O and if you frequent ATOT and you cant figure it out im gonna lable you an "UBER MORON" because i got teh people at my school up on it Using this help file i made and they can all do it. and some of them cant even use a AIM correctly

I just linked my MP3 folder since it's about 40 gigs currently....figured that would get me admission to most hubs. I guess I'm mostly concerned with security stuff. I know better than to d/l and open a file without a virus scan, but what about people uploading stuff or using the connection to hack into your rig?

EDIT- doh...typed this as the answer was appearing above.

if you like to share high quality music or movies, let me know. PMs are fine.

About sharing enough files, you definetly want to share Many many gigs to get into the good hubs. 2 options if you dont have alot of files. Share things over and over. Like copy your entire Mp3 colllection 3 or 4 times and share all of them. Or you can use a program called DC hack. Its not really a hack, it just makes the hub think that you are sharing more then you do. I do this because Ive only got a 20 gig hard drive and I want access to all the good hubs :) Besides Im not really hurting anyone, Im still giving them access to the 20 gigs Ive got.

Hope I don't get in trouble for telling you this, its not really that bad IMO.

Thanks but I'm pretty much set for files. Between my MP3's and my...uh....linux ISOs, I've got probably close to 80gigs I could share.
