Idiot question about ram

What's the difference between getting 2 matched sticks of ram from a vendor and getting two single sticks separately?

Matched sticks are 'guaranteed' to work in dual channel boards. It usually isn't worth the expense unless you're really particular about it.

thanks. that's what i thought. i was planning on buying another stick of the same brand memory i'm using now for dual channel. hopefully it works alright.
