Idiot neighbors.

So I just moved into a new appartment complex with some friends, and its a pretty nice place, 3 bed 3 bath ~1200 square feet, kind of expensive, but way better than dorms/other appartment complexes. So last night I came back from party hopping at about 3:30 hopped on the net for a few minutes while downing a few glasses of water then went to bed, well at about 4:15 I wake up to this ungodly loud muddled rendition of hail mary by tupac. Apparently the frat boys that live next door (one drives a range rover the other an x5, no joke) thought it prudent to blast tupac as loud as they could. (I imagine their though process wen't something like this: "dsmn its 4 am, what should we do to be good neighbors? Oh we should probably give the neighbors some good tunes to relax with, how about some tupac") so I bang on the wall for a few minutes, no dice, finall I get fed up with it, go into the living room (after just having figured out how to hook up my 5.1 surrounds and 12" JBL s120piii sub to my mp3 player link and turn on odb - baby I got your money on repeat for a few minutes (very deep boomy bass) well apparently this made it difficult for them to listen to tupac as it was knocking the pictures off my walls so I can imagine what was happening in their appartment. So I turn it off after a few minutes because I heard them banging on the walls, thinking they wanted truce I desisted and went to bed. About 5 minutes later numbnuts was blasting tupac again, this time I propped the sub up on a chair and faced it directly on the wall took the pictures down (didn't want them to fall and break) grabbed some ear plugs and put the song on repeat for a little over an hour, I was going to try for 6 hours or so to send a message, but I couldn't sleep because I could feel the bass through my bedframe in my room, after that there was no more music to be heard, this morning however I go outside to pick up my paper and the guy walks out and is like "hey man could you please not play your music so loud at night? we couldn't sleep" and I'm like are you sh!tting me?!? You guys had tupac blasting, to which he replied "I had my girl over and wanted to show off" WTF?! My appartment is two stories so I don't have any body on top or below, and I only share one wall with any other neighbors (them) what would you guys do?

Cliff notes:
frat boy neighbors played loud music at 4 am
I played louder music to get a point across
they confronted me this morning about my loud music

Ah frat boys and their antics. THat was pretty douche of them, but at least you got them back. Just knock on their door to get them to shut up, or just get to know them so you guys dont have any beef.

"...what would you guys do?"

Would have noticed all the calamity of others who live in apartments, from this very forum. No fvckin' way I could hack it. I would have opted for trailer park living, or any other option, than putting up with that.

no dice, finall I get fed up with it, go into the living room (after just having figured out how to hook up my 5.1 surrounds and 12" JBL s120piii sub to my mp3 player link and turn on odb - baby I got your money on repeat for a few minutes (very deep boomy bass) well apparently this made it difficult for them to listen to tupac as it was knocking the pictures off my walls so I can imagine what was happening in their appartment
So you are just as much as a fvcking idiot neighbor as them.

I'm a borderline alcoholic and I'm smart enough not to play the "battle of the bass" game at 4am.

Sigh, thanks for the input, back to your cave troll.

Hahah yeah ornery I know what you mean, I chose this place because it was a bit more expensive and I thought there would be fewer college students, plus its more town house style living anyways, just that shared wall might be a killer. I looked into buying, but couldn't find anything decent in my price range (150-200) its like everyone buys a house to live in for 3-4 years and expects to sell it for 25k markup at the end without puting any work into it, I just didn't feel like it would be a sound investment at the time.

Hhahah I know I know, I would never knowingly implement the cock block, it was just an added consequence.

Troll?
You're a moron for even posting about your little music battle. You're straight up ASKING to be flamed, do you expect sympathy for being dragged down to the "idiot" level and beating them at it?
Round of applause for you!

I'm sure it's very justified in your head, just like your "idiot neighbor" had his justification for blasting his music.
You say it's higher rent and you expect the complex to not have as many younger college types that typically pull stunts like you described. Which is all well and good until you stooped to their level and did exactly what you were trying to avoid.

I don't want to troll you, but sit back, reread what you posted and think about how utterly moronic BOTH of you were. Ultimately it comes down to "pot to kettle". Your neighbors were showing off for their woman, and in turn you were showing off for them.
You are supposed to be the mature non-college type, but you didn't behave as if you are.

Have a bad day? You are amusing me, so I won't ask you to stop, well thought out response though, must have taken you a while to think all that up to reply to an "idiot" thanks for the consideration.

Hahah nice one phas 😛

Thats what I would have done for the first infraction - blast my stereo system, but not for more than 15 minutes.

If they do it again, police time.

Actually he made some very good points there, next time, don't be a pvssy about it and just go over there and tell them to stop. Tell them they will be reported to the landlord if it happens again.

Problem solved.

Naw, today is a great day actually. I've just had problems with noise ordinance in the past and this brings up memories of very specific situations where battles of music volume have taken place.

In the end it accomplishes nothing, though it can be fun at the time. You would get better results by having a mock-up lightsaber battle with your erect penises.
The point is that you posted about it. That is like someone posting about getting a speeding ticket. You are asking for nothing but flames.

To answer your "what would you do" question. I would have slammed on their door at 4:30am with my baseball bat in my hand.

reminds me of my old roomate who blasted his music with his $90 speakers set (which now costs $40.. it's the one with the flat speakers by Altec Lansing). he hooks up like 3 other speakers in hoping to make it a 5.1 set or something. what a moron.

anyway i just turned up my $10 Altec Lansing and started playing counter strike. putting the sub under my desk gives out come nice bass when i blast my ak or something.

I can understand you were pissed and stuff. It's early in the year, though, and do you rally want to start a war with your neighbors?? I mean, there's a saying that goes something like, "Don't sh!t where you eat." Do you get an idea of how it applies here?

I mean, yeah, people were drunk and pissed, and the impulse is to confront them back or whatever; but maybe consider clearing stuff up instead of escalating it?

Maybe you'll end up being cool with them. Maybe you'll become their b!cth. Maybe they'll become yours! Maybe this guy's girlfriend will be more impressed with you your 5.1 surrounds, 12" JBL s120piii sub, and mp3 player. Who knows?

Good luck.
